A powerful antioxidant and a passion for health lead to CHERRish

The creation of CHERRish stems from a passion for healthy living and the discovery of the benefits of antioxidants.

Dan Haggart started CHERRish in 2005. At the time, he owned a food brokerage. A grower came to him to pitch a concentrate made from Montmorency cherries, one of the foods high in antioxidants.

Once he learned about the antioxidant benefits of this tart cherry, he was intrigued…but not interested in selling a concentrate that took time to mix up before one could drink it. Dan saw the need for a single serving, pop-it-open and gulp-it-down antioxidant drink that made the benefits of antioxidants more convenient and easier for the health-conscious consumer to enjoy.

Dan is an avid marathoner who lifts weights and works out for over two hours a day. He was already an advocate of healthy living. But learning about the Montmorency cherry sparked an interest in the benefits of antioxidants, from anti-aging to disease prevention.

Dan’s research led him to Brunswick Labs and the ORAC scale. As he delved into the research, he also discovered the other advantages to Montmorency cherries: They are an anti-inflammatory fruit too, good news to a runner like Dan who puts in enough miles to occasionally want some muscle relief.

Dan knew he’d keep running marathons, but he never thought he’d run a juice company. However, CHERRish as a powerful antioxidant drink was too hard to pass up. Within months the food brokerage was focused solely on producing and selling CHERRish.

Both of Dan’s sons have since joined the company, and now Matt and Ryan help their dad to promote the benefits of antioxidants and CHERRish as an antioxidant drink. All three share a strong interest in health and helping people make healthy food and lifestyle choices. The company sponsors 10ks, cancer walks and marathons. The head of sales is John Brush, a cancer survivor. He was drawn to CHERRish because of his firsthand knowledge about the cancer fighting properties of antioxidants.

CHERRish is backed by a strong advisory board made up of successful businessmen and doctors that have a passion for nutrition and a health conscious life style. The company supports and pays for research into foods high in antioxidants, in particular the powerful antioxidant benefits of the Montmorency cherry.

When we started CHERRish, we set out to deliver a true taste experience that was also nutritionally truthful. Too often, health-conscious consumers face confusing and conflicting information about the natural antioxidant content in juices and nutrition drinks. How could a consumer measure antioxidant capacity, to know they were buying a juice high in antioxidants?

What consumers needed was proof. So we set out to get it, submitting our 100% pure Montmorency cherry juice to scientists at Brunswick Laboratories, an international leader in antioxidant research. Turns out these tart cherries weren’t simply a good source of natural antioxidants—they were one of the best! We put that proof on every CHERRish label. In fact, we’re the first to certify and label each bottle of CHERRish with our high antioxidant capacity—or Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) . It’s information that helps you make a more informed antioxidant juice choice.

  • The ORAC Scale

The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, or ORAC scale is used to measure antioxidant powers and CHERRish juices have received ORAC’s highest rating from the Brunswick Laboratory. This means that they are the best juices out there to ensure you receive your daily amount of antioxidants. CHERRish Juice is also high in anti-inflammatory properties, and is certified Kosher.
